Are you ready to program a DISH remote and don’t know where to start? With these easy instructions, you will be able to program a DISH remote and begin enjoying your high-definition television programming from DISH Network in no time at all.

First, turn the power to the television on, and you will see four translucent buttons (called function buttons) at the top of the remote that light up red to indicate which of the four modes is being used at the time. The four lighted function buttons are “SAT,” “TV,” “VCR,” and “AUX.” Follow these steps carefully to program a DISH remote:

  • Press and hold the TV button down until all four function buttons light up.
  • Release the TV button.
  • Quickly press and release either the smaller red TV power button or the singular red power button, depending on the remote control model you have. The TV function button will now blink and then go to a steady red light.
  • Using the up/down navigation arrows, you will start by repeatedly pressing, and then releasing the up arrow until your TV turns off. Each time you press a button, the TV function will blink. Between each press of the button, give your TV time to respond by powering off.
  • When your TV is off, lock in the code by pressing and releasing the pound key (#) at the bottom right-hand side of the DISH remote. Set the remote back to “SAT” by pressing and releasing the SAT button at the top left of the DISH remote.
  • Press the TV power button (red) and make sure that you can power on and off your TV as well as control the volume using the remote’s volume “Up” and “Down” buttons.

Now it’s easy to program a DISH remote. Simply follow these directions step by step, and you’ll have no trouble getting your DISH Network satellite TV system up and running. Keep in mind we have DISH Network customer service on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you.
